Sapa

I've had somewhat of an exorcist episode the last week. I don't know whether it's the food or just my non-smoking immune system but hopefully it buggers off soon. I know, what the hell Vietnam. So, I hadn't been up to much but I couldn't stick around Hanoi forever so I took advantage of the only storm-free days in Sapa and headed there. Because what's better for a cold than trekking through hills for 2 days!
Check. Out. THAT. View.
I mean just as well after a 6 1/2 hour bus journey including the most sweat-inducing, tense 2 hours of my LIFE, up the mountains. Who needs skydiving?!

We spent the two days trekking through the local villages, accompanied by local Hmong women who belong to an ethnic group living in the valleys. I know everyone says it but honestly the photos don't do the place justice. The sheer scale of this place is incredible.

Here's to the good life.

Don't know what to say, the nerves have well and truly kicked in. 5 weeks today and I'll be on a plane heading to the other side of the atlantic. It's that time where I'm maybe seeing some people for the last time before I go. It's that thing where normaly it's ok if I don't see them but when you know in a few weeks you can't...y'know?
It's officially crazy time, patiently waiting for 'panic time' to creep up.

This pretty much sums up what I'm feeling right now so I don't need to go into it
{y'get me?}
SO, other than my worrying ramblings, my beautiful new rucksack came in the post the other day, narrowly dodging a horrific disaster as my dad ran to chase down a van when he realised he'd signed for the wrong package {in unison...PHEEEW!!!}.
I'd just like to add that my dad's a pre-tty laid back kinda guy and seldom runs, if ever, so lets all silently thank him.
It's an 80L which should be more than enough but I'm staring at it right now not so sure how many shoes I'ma be able to squeeze in.

I've found myself listening to One Republic's 'Good Life' waaay too much which makes me so so SO excited for the next year.

whoaa.

With only 2 months left till I leave on my travels, the next year will undoubtedly mark some massive changes in my life.
I've never been away from my friends and family for more than 2 weeks so I'm kinda panicking inside. On the plus side...I'm going to be travelling :)
Something I've been waiting for since FOREVER.

This blog will be my journey to nirvana, ecstasy, paradise, whatever you wanna call it, packed into a disproportionately small rucksack.
Jokes, it's more of a pretty pictures meets drunken memoir kind of blog to make my friends jealous.
Joking aside, I suppose that's what everyone thinks they're going to get when they go travelling...nirvana, their own version of 'Eat, Pray, Love'. I'm an optimist so I will be expecting my Javier Bardem within the first month.
